I guess I sense I'm cognizant
I don't even know what day it is
I greet myself in the mirror like a host of some party that don't exist
and I guess I might get movin' but I'm talking to houseplants like humans
they know all I've not disclosed
how I compensate and regulate to keep all my surroundings in control
and when I'm with you there's still solitude in the compathy we're feeling
I am enthralled by the new
starved for a moment or two
and there's nothing neither can do
except accept the exchanges at awkward distances
and expect that we will be let down and then get used to it
and i'm savoring each second of this empirical dread
because the in between is all we'll ever get
